Where to stay

We suggest staying in Wānaka.

However, Queenstown and the surrounding suburbs will work too.

Local Attractions

You won't need suggestions (trust us, you'll understand what we mean once you arrive) but some ideas nonetheless.

Eating in Wānaka

Scroggin Coffee and Eatery. We think this is 'the best' cafe in Wānaka.

Big Fig Wānaka. A good bistro style eatery.

Patagonia. The hot chocolate is a must. (Multiple locations in and around Queenstown)

Francesca. Ciao bella, vuoi cibo italiano?

Or, do what we did—head straight away to wine tasting. Because why not?

Eating outside of Wānaka

Fergburger. A must (at least once) when in Queenstown (but also check out all the 'Fergs' in Queenstown).

Blue Kanu (Queenstown): Funky Asian fusion.

Jervois Steak House (Queenstown): Bloody good steak.

The Dishery (Arrowtown): Good food, good vibes.

Do you like wine?

Amisfield. Best Sav Blanc in the area.

Chard Farm. Stunning winery, delicious wines. The precarious road getting there is worth it.

Kinross. Spectacular winery and a great place to sneak in lunch on a day of tastings.

Peregrine. Great Pinot Noir.

What to do

Bored? Unlikely. But just in case, a few ideas for things to do.

Fun and thrill-seeking

No. 1 - Skydiving... after the wedding, thank you.

No. 2 - Bunge jumping... again, after the wedding please.

Slow paced and relaxing

Onsen Hot Pools. Soak out your stresses (must book in advance).

Wanaka hikes. A must do if you're one to enjoy time in nature.

Skyline Queenstown. Take the gondola up to the top of Queenstown. No hiking required.

Milford Sound. A bit of a longer tour (min. full day), but worth it. Just google Milford Sound and you'll understand.
